The Foldable iPhone Will Use Samsung's Most Advanced OLED Panel

The panel, to be manufactured by Samsung Display, will not only be thinner and lighter but also offer higher brightness and better color reproduction.

Apple is working on its first foldable iPhone model, and the display of the phone is said to be produced by Samsung Display. According to a new rumor, the foldable iPhone’s panel is claimed to be more advanced than the one used in the Galaxy Z Fold series.

Thinner Design and Higher Brightness

The panel, which will integrate the touch layer into the display itself, will be 19% thinner as a result. It is also reported to be lighter. Additionally, thanks to new manufacturing processes, it will offer higher peak and overall brightness levels along with improved color reproduction.

Since Apple is a profitable customer for Samsung Display, it is said that the company developed a panel tailored to Apple’s demands in order to win the contract. This panel may also appear in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is expected to be introduced in July and is reported to be the world’s thinnest foldable phone.

Apple is also reported to have filed a new trademark application for the panel to be used in the foldable iPhone. The company is known for using terms such as Retina, Liquid Retina, Super Retina XDR, Ultra Retina XDR, and ProMotion for the displays used in its devices. A similar naming approach may be applied to the screen panel of the foldable iPhone.
