Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Calculators

Are the calculators free?

Yes — every calculator is completely free. No registration, no subscription, no hidden charges. The site is funded by advertising.

How accurate are the results?

Our calculators use official rates from HMRC, DWP and Ofgem, updated for 2026/27. Results are accurate for standard situations. For complex tax affairs, verify with HMRC or a qualified professional.

Do the results constitute financial advice?

No. Results are estimates for illustrative purposes only — not financial, tax, legal or investment advice. For significant decisions, consult a qualified FCA-authorised adviser.

Which tax year is used?

Calculators are updated for the 2026/27 tax year (6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027). Scottish income tax rates are also included where applicable.

Privacy and Data

Do you store my financial data?

No. All calculations happen in your browser. We never receive or store any financial figures you enter.

Do you use cookies?

Minimal cookies: Google Analytics (anonymised) and Google AdSense (advertising). See our Cookie Policy.

Technical

Why does my result differ from my payslip?

Common reasons: a different tax code, pension salary sacrifice, benefits in kind, student loan deductions, or different payroll frequency. Use figures from your P60 for the most accurate comparison.

Do calculators work on mobile?

Yes — fully responsive on smartphones, tablets and desktops. Number inputs open a numeric keypad on mobile.

Which browsers do you support?

All current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. If a calculator looks broken, try clearing your cache or updating your browser — then let us know via our contact page.

Can I embed a calculator on my own website?

Not without our written consent — see Section 5 of our Terms of Use. If you’re interested in commercial licensing, please get in touch via our contact page.

Found an error?

Use our contact page with the calculator name, values entered, and result received.
